Mine & Quarry regulation is changing
Victoria's mining and quarrying industries are moving to a risk-based regulatory model from 1st July 2027.
Operators will have an ongoing duty to identify, assess, control and review risks across the lifecycle of their operation - including closure and rehabilitation.
At the same time, Victoria's rehabilitation-bond framework has been reformed to better reflect rehabilitation liability and risk, with incentives for progressive rehabilitation and updated rehabilitation plans.
